Windows programs under Linux using Wine, CrossOver & Co.

Who knows not the problem: the Linux community offers everything from software to
what you need, but would like to install a special program. With Wine brings Linux
already a program, under which let some Windows programs install.
Wine is a project which supports a lot of Windows software.
Among other games as well. A complete list of supported Windows software can be found on the project site in the Apps Database.

the program is not supported by Wine or is not, although it is available on the Wine Project page, help from commercial software such as CrossOver Codeweavers.

CrossOver is an enhanced version of Wine and supports more software than Wine.
In a specially designed for game version, CrossOver Games, can also be installed very many current 3D games under Linux. Assuming a good hardware that is for Windows also needed. What programs are supported, can also be found on the project website at "Compatibility"

If one is convinced of CrossOver, can first try to install a test version. Everything should work smoothly, everyone is free to purchase a license on the manufacturer's site. This one, however, requires an account with CodeWeavers, which is very quickly set up.

My conclusion: I have so far all the programs I was well on Windows (of course non-Windows programs) :-) can install with CrossOver Linux.

Wine however I was a bit disappointed because the game "Counter-Strike" although available, but install can not play. On the cause of research, I still am.
, though it is older games like Anno 1602, Rail Road Tycoon2 and Star Trek: The Next Generation install. Copy the installation directory of Windows games in a folder on the Linux machine, but these can easily part games like Star Wars Jedi Academy.
